Dress 9 to 5

I realized that I dont have much dresses I can wear to work. They are either too casual(read: too much boobs), or too fancy and formal (I work at a place where most wear a Tshirt and jeans). So I decided to make one that is cute, casual, but has enough coverage. After flipping through my 1 year burda magazine collection, I finally found a perfect pattern, 2009/march/dress116. It is available in petite sizes, and it has enough coverage in the front!

I removed the sleeves because I thought they might stick out too much with the cotton I was using. Used black silk on the shoulders and stretch cotton with japanese-y pattern on it. I love the triangle it forms in the back! The pattern fits perfectly, though it could use a dart in the back, but I am not going to complain since the front fitted perfectly for my height without any alteration! I love it!

I have worn this to work twice already! I dont feel too dressed up in this and its super duper comfortable! šŸ™‚ I am tempted to remake this in solids sometimes in the future. But for now, I am drafting my first top! šŸ˜€

  1. Love your fabric. But I’m biased, purple is my favorite color

I have that one of my TBS list since I saw the preview for that issue!

And I keep a list on my laptop of all the Petite garments in each Burda issue I get. Something like:

3-2009-116 : dress with gathered yoke

I plan to make a photo album and keep actual line drawings…some day (I’m in OCD mood lately, keep making lists!)
