Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE!

I turned a year older recently, so I bought myself a cool sewing machine šŸ˜›

Its a hand crank sewing machine made in the early 1900s. It doesnt work very well yet, but I bought it because it has a shuttle bobbin, and I dont currently own a sewing machine with that mechanism.

There seem to be very little information on the web about this machine. It was made in the UK by G. Robert & Company. There’s no information online about that company though. I bought it from a professional sewing machine repair guy near where I live. He showed me how to thread the machine and it is mighty tricky. Hopefully I can figure it out myself!

When the lighting is better, I can take some photos of the cool shuttle bobbin!

  1. Happy birthday Juebejue! Wish you another year of love and happiness!
And that is the most awesome birthday present!
I used hand-cranked sewing machine when I first learned to sew, kinda miss it now. Would love to see more photos and stitching result too!

    1. wow! that must had been interesting! was that back in indonesia?

good idea on the stitching results! i should do an update on my other machines as well šŸ™‚

  2. Yeeeah!! It looks so ornate and grand. Love, love the second picture. And I like the idea of buying yourself a present too =)

    1. you are one lucky lady as well! šŸ™‚ i saw a singer at a vintage shop once (looks like yours) and it felt so smooth. i’ve regretted not taking it home since!

  3. Happy birthday! And such a cool gift! Definitely get some pictures of the shuttle bobbin, I can’t even visualize it in my head. Do you plan to use this one, or just have it for decor?

    1. i will this weekend, since i will be home during the day light time then šŸ™‚ it looks like a shuttle! though i need to do it slowly, as i wont know how to put it back! haha

I probably will use it from time to time just for fun. but not full time or anything. It wont be really for decor since im keeping it in the box, away from cat hair šŸ˜‰ i do like how it has no wires, but it is sooooo heavy — it feels like it weighs 40 pounds!

  4. Happy birthday!

I’ve never seen a hand crank sewing machine before. It looks very cool!

I only recently discovered your blog and I’m very glad I did. You have some amazing sewing projects on here. Will be back regularly to see what you’re creating. šŸ˜‰
